Earth Emits A Life Signal

"By observing the faint liht of the Earth reflected off the moon, astronomers have found a clue to detecting planets capable of supporting life. Water and oxygen in the atmosphere give the light--earthshine--a distinctive "fingerprint of life," says Wes Traub of the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge MA. Equipping spacecraft with instruments to detect this signal will speed the task of finding Earthlike planets."
