Dear All Recent news regarding the stepping-up of online monitoring by the Police of social networks has coincided with similar developments in this area such as the[Contact Me Ref-2]’s new stimulus focusing on surveillance: The first centre in Europe to research the effects of surveillance of society will be launched at The [Contact Me Ref-1] and the University of Stirling next week (18-20 September 2012). CRISP – the Centre for Research into Information, Surveillance and Privacy – will study information technologies, how they are used to gather information about people’s daily activities and the privacy implications for individuals as they go about their daily lives. This latest undertaking appears to be an academic instrument to be utilized by the powers-that-be to arm their bureaucracy with data in order to assist their decisions in the building of a European version of the Secret State. Yes, we’re definitely living in interesting times.
