I know there are quite a few folk on this list who have been following RichPlanet over the last few years, so here’s an updated I picked up from a facebook posting: stakeholders.ofcom.o… You can read about the investigation into the Rich Planet programme from page 20 onwards. They ruled that Information TV was in breach of Rules 1.3 and 2.3 – but I don’t know whether this means they will be fined or not. The ruling is simply based around the exposure of offensive/upsetting images and commentary in the Lee Rigby programme with Nick Kollerstrom which was broadcast at times when children could have seen it. OFCOM ruled that it was “OK” for news media to broadcast these images in those times, because of the context they were broadcast in – bit of a dodgy interpretation, but there you go… They go to some length to explain their ruling (about 8 pages). In summary, I have no idea whether this means RichPlanet will end up back on TV or not.
