I met Piers Corbyn in Oct 2013 at the Royal Society Meeting “Next Steps in Climate Science”. I even had a cup of coffee with him after the event. I told him quite a bit about Hurricane Erin, 9/11 and so on. He was quite interested, but I realised he would never talk about it publicly, because it would not “fit” with the model/data he presents to people as part of his “alternative weather forecasting” service etc.
