I’m sorry Ben, but I’m just not with you on this one. I simply cannot give any time to these supposedly intelligent people who derive a very high standard of living despite their insincerity, be it Vidal, Hitchens, Chomsky or whoever. It’s worse than the fact that they just provide a limited hang-out position like a LIHOP. Those who listen/pay attention to them through the MSM are legion and therefore these talking heads and ‘academics’ are peddling lies and half-truths to the masses. MIT professor Chomsky says there is no truth in 9/11 conspiracy theories. Hitchens could only get through the day by necking scotch and that speaks volumes; if I had been him I wouldn’t have been able to look in the mirror. As you say yourself, you doubt whether he believed all of his own bull-shit; but he was too narcissistic to admit it. Just as long as he won the ‘debate’. Therefore, he saw his ego as more important than the issue at hand. Vidal and his ilk have such leverage with the masses that, had he ‘grown a pair’, been intellectually honest, and called 9/11 for what it was then, maybe, I could show him some respect.
