Well this has turned out to be a complete ‘non-story’. Following my own logic, using google maps, I found that the photographer’s location for the Leamington Courier photo was indeed in West Warwick. It seems it was taken from the car park of Warwick Race Course looking East – this makes the ‘pyrotechnics over Warwick Castle’ story seem more likely. Furthermore, the original Daily Mail article says that the young girl had been playing tennis in Leamington Spa. The photos here show the circle less than a mile away with the river in the foreground, therefore she was North of the Avon looking South. Again, Google Maps show tennis courts within a stone’s throw to the Northeast of the Castle. My conclusion – this was a non-story given prominence in the Daily Mail in order to demonstrate and reinforce one thing to the public – strange aerial phenomena usually have a rational explanation. Go back to sleep everybody, nothing to see here. On Thursday, 17 April 2014, 23:09, “neilaustin1@sky.com”
