After my second special radio event that was broadcast on May 1st 2014, Billy Cox decided to write an article about one of the presented aeronautical incidents of Yugoslav Air Force that I compiled. You can read his article here: devoid.blogs.heraldt… I have now moved to Ireland and I am now processing my archives of these official cases collected over 18 years. There will be more data in the future. Best wishes. Pasted article in the text below: Source: devoid.blogs.heraldt… Sympathy for the hounds By Billy Cox, Herald-Tribune / Monday, June 2, 2014 In a rare window into the psychology of what can happen when military brass acknowledge the futility of chasing UFOs, we turn now to the vexing case of Zvonko Jurjevic, who retired with a general’s rank from what used to be Yugoslavia. The Yugoslav Jastreb was apparently no match for UFOs over Titograd in 1975/CREDIT: wp.scn.ru This story has been out there since 2011 when, during a ceremony at the Serbian Air Force and Air Defense Headquarters, another retired general, Djuro Stupar, promoted a book on the history of the 172nd Fighter-Bomber Aviation Regiment based out of Podgorica, formerly Titograd, in Montenegro. For De Void’s purposes, one chapter in particular stands out, thanks to a translation by Croatian journo Giuliano Marinkovic. And it’s worth a discussion because it makes official indifference over The Great Taboo seem a bit less ridiculous. In January 1975, Jurjevic was the 172nd’s duty commander. That’s when he and other pilots began noticing weird occurences attending night-flight missions. Roughly 50 minutes after military planes would lift off the runway, a luminescent, color-changing ball would appear and pace Yugoslav-manufactured aircraft, mainly G-2 Galebs and J-21 Jastrebs. “Sometimes,” recalled the general in translation, “it happened that 12 aircrafts were in the air and all 24 pilots could see it. UFO could be seen in the air for approximately 10 minutes and after that it would disappear.” And obviously nobody could tell what it was. This went on for weeks in concert with perhaps the rarest of concessions from the UFO phenomenon — a predictable pattern, exactly 50 minutes between takeoff and manifestation. Certainly it wasn’t a celestial body; this thing adjusted its position relative to the planes. Officials caught up in Cold War paranoia wondered if their sorties were under aerial surveillance, thanks to a leak or a spy in their midst. Jurjevic decided to test the theory. On a late Sunday afternoon when no flights were scheduled, Jurjevic contacted three trusted pilots and technicians to prep four planes for the flight line, with no prior announcements or radio contact. Two Jastrebs took off and peeled away in opposite directions. Forty minutes later, Jurjevic himself and a wingman launched and replaced the other Jastrebs, which headed back to base. “As soon as I ascended to altitude of 3,000 meters,” he reported, “and exactly 50 minutes after the first group of aircrafts took off, suddenly in the region around Budva, UFO appeared in the form of bright ball.” Jurjevic and the other “bait pilot” broke radio silence and chattered about what they were seeing. Jurjevic gave chase, accelerated, slowed down, mixed it up, but the UFO kept a constant distance — 6.2 miles, to be exact. He contacted a radar operator, who tracked Jurjevic’s plane on the screen but never painted the UFO even though he could see it visually. Other ground observers saw the object as well. The UFO eventually disappeared over the Adriatic. Jurjevic filed a report with the Air Defense Command, along with a suggestion — next time, let’s use bigger guns, MiG-21s. In what went down as a routine training mission involving six pairs of planes, with MiGs converging from other bases, Jurjevic and his team monitored, yet again, the emergence of a UFO 50 minutes after the bait planes took off. The MiGs pursued, and in at least one instance, the pilot lost sight of his quarry even as the mystery kept pinging off his radar. And once again, the UFO evaded the interceptors, leaving everyone as clueless as before. Jurjevic took a lot of serious grief over the exercise — “some joked, telling me that we are chasing witches” — and decided he’d had enough. Unable to categorize the UFO as a threat, he ordered subordinates to “ignore it because no one could approach UFO closer than 10 kilometers (6.2 miles)” and “there is no danger from it.” But on another night mission immediately thereafter, the UFO bloomed over Titograd once again. Jurjevic reported the UFO actually approached the airport this time and created a buzz of excitement on the ground and in the air. But Jurjevic flipped the switch to denial mode. “People watched me suspiciously and squadron commander approached and told me that 100 people at the apron are watching UFO and that I am only person who can’t see it. I replied loudly so other could hear me that I can’t see anything because I don’t want to see it so everyone should stop commenting and do his job as usual. After appearing above airport, UFO turned off its lights and vanished forever.” Wonder how many versions of Jurjevic’s dilemma have played out with military commanders across the world? At least the UFO gave the guy a break and stopped taunting him. But keep your eye on Marinkovic. He’s in position to do some revelatory reporting. During last 19 months I didn’t had too much time for mailing list updates as I was working a lot behind the scenes with my contacts and leads. Here are finally some updates. Back in October 2012 I organized special radio event where former high ranking military and civilian aviation experts testified about their knowledge of UFO phenomena from the era of former Yugoslavia: ufoupdateslist.com/2… ge.tt/4092pzP/v/0 Public was able to learn about the military operations of Yugoslav Air Force against UFOs. It was a compilation of 18 years of my discussions with former officials and pilots where the length of audio interviews within my personal archives is now over 40 hours long (length of video interviews is not included in that estimate which is also high). That show at the end caused many breakthroughs. Other aviations officials were able to hear that such events can be presented in serious and factographic manner. Broadcast opened the door for contacts with other former officials thanks to personal recommendations and leads that I received. This region of Southeast Europe is in the specific situation. Yugoslavia was a federation which consisted of 6 six socialist republics. It is no more. Former republics are now independent states which mean that there is no administrative continuation of the previous federal government. The final results of such historical circumstances mean that is no restrictions to discuss military incidents that involved UFOs during former administration. Of course, the first step was to determine was there any such incidents in the first place. That question was resolved few years ago. Those incidents exist. Another breakthrough happened back in 2011 when inside ceremonial room of the Serbian Air Force and Air Defense Headquarters, special monograph book ‘172nd Aviation Regiment’ by retired general Djuro Stupar was promoted. Official monograph of that unit also has a chapter that deals specifically with military UFO incidents that happened back in January 1975 above former Titograd in Montenegro. I can report that I have finally located and interviewed MIG-21 pilots of Yugoslav Air Force that were on special mission to intercept and shut down UFOs during those incidents. I am happy to announce that second special radio event is going to be broadcast tomorrow on May 1, 2014 (Thursday) over Croatian State Radio 2 from 11:30 to 12:30 h (09:30 to 10:30 UTC Time). Radio Station: Croatian State Radio 2 Streaming Link: www.hrt.hr/streamf/P… [In Croatian Language] Title: Yugoslav Air Force vs. UFOs – part 2 Show: Hungry Ears Subject: Program will present compilation of interviews with high ranking Air Force officers and officials of civilian aviation that were collected during the last 18 years from my personal archives.
