Arthur C Clarke worked very closely with rocket scientists and he invented satellite communications. His sci-fi stories are extraordinarily prescient because he knew what serious scientists were planning. Von Braun talked about giant rockets and three rocketships for the first moon mission. This was reflected in Clarke’s speculative fictional account of the first voyage to the moon. It is an international expedition with three craft that are built in earth orbit. This was first published in the Evening Standard as a serial in 1956. Yet just seven years later NASA came along and Kennedy made his speech and the “real” story is so different.Part 1: https://archive.org/stream/Fantasy_Science_Fiction_v011n06_1956-12_PDF/Fantasy__Science_Fiction_v011n06_1956-12_PDF#page/n101/mode/2upPart 2: https://archive.org/stream/Fantasy_Science_Fiction_v012n01_1957-01/Fantasy__Science_Fiction_v012n01_1957-01#page/n55/mode/2upPart 3: https://archive.org/stream/Fantasy_Science_Fiction_v012n02_1957-02_PDF/Fantasy__Science_Fiction_v012n02_1957-02_PDF#page/n79/mode/2up
