As some of you may know, Edgar Fouché has been talking publicly about Quasi Crystals since at least 1998. Quasi Crystals are an example of a metamaterial scholar.google.co.uk… I recently stumbled across this interesting lecture from 2012 – and it explains some of the theoretical (and 2 practical) uses of metamaterials in Optics. www.youtube.com/watc… It explains Snell’s law – to do with refraction. It introduces the idea of a metamaterial which has a negative refractive index. Pay particular attention to the section on “Transformation Optics” youtu.be/ogNKrQCH1Kk… You may guess what I am thinking – as a technique for creating illusions… The lecture is quite “techie” as it was given to an audience of physics students etc – but it is partly aimed at a general audience too, so you should get something out of it.
