The posts that I have seen seem to suggest that there have only been two types of door fitted.The type involved in this incident had a digital lock that could be over-ridden by any of the cabin crew in the event of an emergency.This type of locking mechanism was only fitted as a modification to the Airbus post 9/11. Prior to this modification, there was no lock as far as I can gather. Either way, the cabin crew had existing procedures to enter the cockpit in an emergency. Like you say Ben, it doesn’t add up.
